slashthedrabble #206 'Signs'; I have never written for this fandom before omg.
A car blazing by, squealing tires and scattering dust, was the first sign that everything wasn’t going according to plan for the prison bus heading to Lompoc. Two more cars flew past, before swerving and coming up behind the bus. The first had already turned and was driving in front of the bus, keeping dangerously close.
The prisoners shifted in their seats, talking excitedly as they twisting to look back at the vehicles. One of the guards at the front stood, hand on his gun.
“Sit your asses down,” he growled, eyes narrowed as he stared down the men. “And keep your goddamn mouths shut while you at-” The bus swerved, throwing him against the seats. The driver was frantically spinning the wheel to avoid the car that weaved in and out of the lane in front of him.
One of the cars behind pulled up beside the bus and Dom looked down at it. Mia looked back, jaw set and eyes narrowed as she waved one hand. Telling him to get to the front of the bus, Dom realized. Promising himself that he and Brian would have a nice little heart to heart over bringing her into this, Dom put his hands on the seat in front of him. The bus lurched; the car in front had slammed into the door, ripping it off its hinges. The mouthy guard was hanging out, shooting.
“That crazy bastard,” Dom said before jumping up, dragging the two men chained to him as he barreled up the aisle. One of the guards grabbed hold of his elbow and Dom punched him square in the jaw before running up from behind and kicking the mouthy guard off of the bus, grinning fiercely.
The bus swerved again, sending Dom to the floor. Looking out, he saw Brian gesturing for him to jump. Saying a quick prayer, Dom scrambled to his feet and leapt out, landing roughly against the open window of Brian’s car.
Brian handed him a gun. “Dude, get rid of those guys,” he yelled. “They’re not invited.”
Dom turned awkwardly and pointed at the chain. Firing once, twice, he yelled back, “keep the damn car steady!” Narrowing his eyes, he took aim and fired. With a satisfying snap, the chain broke free. Swinging his legs around, Dom slid in through the window with apparent ease and Brian slowed the car down, letting the bus speed ahead before it lost anymore prisoners.
“‘Keep the car steady’,” Brian repeated, grinning. “Don’t blame me if your aim is shit.”
Dom shook his head, something tight loosening in his chest. Reaching out, he wrapped one hand around the back of Brian’s neck and pulled him into a rough kiss, before drawing back, smirking at the sight of stunned blue eyes. “You’re one crazy son of a bitch, you know that?”
Brian recovered quickly, the smile back on. “Man, leave my mom out of this,” he said, before turning the car around and heading towards the setting sun.
